This is a simple but very effective rig for fishing in channels like Rangitoto and Motuihe. The sinker goes above the swivel attaching the trace to the main line, and pyramid sinkers are recommended as they hold firm on the bottom.

The other trick is to use separate baits on each hook, a chunk of squid and a chunk of pilchard work well.
